RESNET PROPOSES AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 2 TO EXTEND DATES OF REQUIREMENT OF CERTIFIED RESNET HERS RATERS TO PASS THE NEW RESNET HERS RATER SIMULATION PRACTICAL TEST

The RESNET Standards Development Committee 200 – Instruction, Assessment and Certification proposed the following change to the following section of Chapter Two:

204.1.3.1 - Onsite QA Field Reviews

Section 204.1.3.1 requires that HERS Rater candidates and existing certified RESNET HERS Raters must pass the new RESNET Rater Simulation Practical test. Currently the standard requires that after January 1, 2016 new HERS Rater candidates must pass the test and that existing certified HERS Raters must pass the test by January 1, 2017.

Due to the need to properly educate the rating industry on this requirement and make some technical modifications to the practical simulation test, the effective date for new raters will move to July 1, 2016 and for existing raters the effective date will move to July 1, 2017.

This proposed amendment is undergoing the RESNET standard amendment public review and comment process. Interested parties are encouraged to comment on the proposed amendment.

Comments will only be accepted on the proposed extension of the deadlines for the simulation practical tests.

Public comments on the proposed amendment will be accepted until July 15, 2015.
